Amazon's 100 albums for $5.00 ea.

So, I'm always looking for a deal and I stumbled across Amazon's 100 albums for $5.00 each. Each month Amazon marks down 100 albums down to $5.00 per album.

Whats the catch you ask? They have to be a MP3 download, but since so many people have MP3 players this really isn't a big deal. Here is something you may not have known about buying MP3's on Amazon, you can upload any purchased music from Amazon onto iTunes. Yes that is correct, iTunes. So if you have an iPod this is not an issue for you. You can transfer them right over to your current favorite playlist.

There is some good stuff being offered each month. Last month I bought  30 Seconds to Mars and Joss Stone albums. No matter what your musical tastes you can probably find something to tempt you.

Some musical heavy hitters featured this month are:

Rihanna
Florence and the Machine
Bruce Springsteen
Allman Brothers
Willie Nelson
Jack Johnson

New Music - Nero

Nero
Who they are:
Nero are an electronic music act from London, England consisting of Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray.  Alana Watson provides vocals on many of the duo's songs, though she is not officially a band member. – From Wikipedia
How I found them:
I first downloaded one of their songs “Promises” from iTunes for FREE (Of course) and I really enjoyed it but didn’t have any tugging feeling to buy more. Then I saw another FREE download called “My Eyes” from Amazon.com (If you hurry you may still be able to pick this one up for free). This one at first I was like WTF for the beginning but after about 20 seconds it really picked up and I enjoyed it. This time I was like two good ones, let me check out some more and I downloaded “Doomsday” which I LOVE!
What they sound like:
They are definitely electronic, along the lines of techno, but more complex in my opinion. Not that I’m any sort of techno expert. A lot of techno or dance music will have 2-3 lines of lyrics that get repeated over and over again, when Nero has lyrics, it is actually full length lyrics. *gasp* full length lyrics in a techno song, no way!  Doomsday is actually full instrumental but the missing lyrics does not detract from the song, the sound is more than enough to carry the song with no lyrics. The song is moody and changes as it goes on, it would fit perfectly into a soundtrack of an alien or fantasy movie. I’m not really sure how to explain Nero effectively; if I had to compare them with another band the closest I would think is Daft Punk or La Roux.

Tune In Tuesday

A weekly meme hosted by Ginger at Greads . It is to showcase music we are currently listening too.

So here are some of my current listens:

Nero - Promises

I got this one for FREE on iTunes and I've been listening to Nero every since. I have since picked up My Eyes (currently for free on Amazon) and Doomsday.

Primus - Tragedy's A Coming

I got this jam also for FREE on amazon. Its super funky and a fun listen! I highly recommend it to everyone.

Black Joe Lewis - Livin' in the Jungle

This is I guess classified as Neo Soul but this band is really starting to lean more towards rock n roll. They are a high energy band that are fantastic live! This song is not actually my favorite from this band but it is one of the clearest video they have. And you can see my friend from highschool in the video! He's one of the saxophone players. He's the white one. LOL!

Must Read: Suzanne Collins – Hunger Games Trilogy

Suzanne Collins – Hunger Games Trilogy:
Book 1 - Hunger Games
Book 2 - Catching Fire
Book 3 - Mockingjay
“MAY THE ODDS ALWAYS BE IN YOUR FAVOR”
Why you should read this series:
These books contain: fights to the death, survival, revolution, betrayal and characters you will fall in love with.
The books are from a young woman Catness Everdeens point of view. She is a 16 year girl who is just trying to survive as well as support her family as a resident of district 12.  Life in District 12 is harsh to say the least, people die every day due to starvation, the men are killed in the mines due to cave ins, there are few options to earn a living.  Catniss is the head of her household, after her fathers death she became the person to make sure they had enough to eat, at one point they almost starved to death. Out of shear desperation had Catniss decided to risk punishment to hunt for her family’s food.  Here is where she met Gale, another child whose family relies on him to bring food to the table.  Throughout the years as their friendship grew so did their hunting skills, until Catniss was an expert with a bow and arrow and Gale could trap just about anything. These skills are what kept their families alive.
Panem is now what used to be the United States has been sectioned off into 12 districts and the Capitol.  At one time the Districts tried to rebel against the Capitol and as a “remembrance” each year each district must send 1 boy and 1 girl between the ages of 12 and 18 into the Hunger Games as a Tribute.  24 kids enter the arena and only one kid walks out. The “winner” of the Hunger Games gets to enjoy a life of leisure in their district. This year is the first year that Catniss sister is up for tribute…
This series will follow Catniss and crew through the times frame of about a year, each book is exciting and fresh. You are snared within the first few pages of the Hunger Games. I’m not usually one for Young Adult books, but these books fit easily as a good adult read, these kids grow up so fast to survive it is very easy to forget that their ages range from 12-18. It’s a good thing all of the books are already out for your reading pleasure because once you start you will not be able to stop. If you are a Kindle owner I purchased the Trilogy for about $17.00 for all three books. That’s a smoking deal! And if you hurry you can have them finished by the time the movie releases in March even if you are a slow reader.

Product Review: Gap - Pebbled Roll Tote in Blue

Gap - Pebbled Roll Tote in Blue
I just bought this purse from the Gap, I got it at 40% off! Yay Sales! So far I really enjoy this purse; there is plenty of room for all my crap without being too bulky. It has two compartments that are a lot larger when you open the purse then they appear on the outside. One of the compartments has an inside zipper pouch. Then there are two outside small pouches where I can put my cell, iPod and keys for easy access. My old purse I had to search all around the main pouch for way longer then I wanted, with this purse they are right there for me to find. I absolutely love the color, it a very pretty blue color that looks great with jeans.
What I don’t like: The shoulder strap is short, you cannot use it as a cross body unless you are tiny; which sucks because I'm lazy and like using the cross body. The second thing which semi-annoys me is the zipper hardware. The tab on the zipper gets skewed and you have to readjust it every time you go to open or close the purse. List Price: $59.95

Movie Review: Immortals

Immortals:
What it is about:
Eons after the Gods won their mythic struggle against the Titans, a new evil threatens the land. Mad with power, King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) has declared war against humanity. Amassing a bloodthirsty army of soldiers disfigured by his own hand, Hyperion has scorched Greece in search of the legendary Epirus Bow, a weapon of unimaginable power forged in the heavens by Ares. Only he who possesses this bow can unleash the Titans, who have been imprisoned deep within the walls of Mount Tartaros since the dawn of time and thirst for revenge. In the king's hands, the bow would rain destruction upon mankind and annihilate the Gods. But ancient law dictates the Gods must not intervene in man's conflict. They remain powerless to stop Hyperion...until a peasant named Theseus (Henry Cavill) comes forth as their only hope. Secretly chosen by Zeus, Theseus must save his people from Hyperion and his hordes... Written by Anonymous   on www.imbd.com
What I thought about it:
Going into this flick I kind of had the expectations of Conan the Barbarian, which it would probably suck like almost every other ancient/god themes movie.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, there were a few groan worthy moments, but for the most part I was engrossed in the movie. Mickey Rourke as per his usual makes an exceedingly good “bad guy” he rocked the hell out of his part as King Hyperion.  The guy who played Theseus, Henry Cavill, also did a great job with his part. I don’t recognize H. Cavill from any other movie that I can remember so I assume this may be his first leading role in a big budget blockbuster film. He did a better job than I thought he would and I am sure we will be seeing more of him in the future. In this flick the gods are portrayed more as the “good guys” which through me off a bit. I am used to seeing the Gods as fickle, vain, and uncaring. I’m still not sure if I believe/like this change in the Gods image, but hey I can role with it. This movie is extremely violent and the fight scenes I have to admit are pretty bad ass.  Theseus and the Gods kick some serious arse. The graphics and explosions don’t overpower the movie as they can sometimes do, but definitely enhanced. The chemistry between the Oracle and Theseus feels forced so it’s a good thing you don’t have to suffer through it much. It’s more of an “oh by the way” we are attracted to each other rather than consuming the plot which can also tend to happen. Overall, there is a good balance between the main plot and any sub-plots. I really enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would.  I wouldn’t say it is as good as 300, but it’s in the same league in my opinion.
Rating:
Watch in the theater! Don’t wait for DVD you’ll lose a lot in the graphics. I don’t think 3D is necessary however.

Must Read: Wylie Overstreet - History of the World According to Facebook

This book is a MUST read, why you ask, because it’s hilarious! If only history and biology classes were taught like this book, then I might have actually retained some of the information. LOL!  The first time I saw History of the World According to Facebook, was online. There was a website that had some of the status messages and I thought it funny then and wished there were more. I would occasionally look online to see if it was updated but alas it never was. So, when I was wondering through the Target book section and I saw this book I able squealed with glee, and I never squeal.  I immediately started flipping through the pages and laughing.  I have not yet actually purchased this book, I am waiting for My Kindle Fire to get here so I can read it on my Fire instead of a hard copy. You know I’m all about eBooks!

Beauty: E.L.F. - Little Black BeautyBook

So I was in Target the other day, but really when am I not in Target... And I saw a pretty end cap the display was full top to bottom E.L.F pallets. The products ranged from $1.00 up to $15.00, and there was so much variety I almost didn't know which one to buy! After considering my options I decided to go with the Little Black BeautyBook for $5.00. It had the most variety in colors at 32 colors. 32 colors for $5.00, you can't beat it. After getting the product home and opening it up I was disappointed at how small the actual pallet was to the packaging. The actual pallet is pretty small, but the box was fairly large. So I guess that is why they could offer 32 colors for $5.00, however, I don’t really mind the size, that’s less room it has to take up in my drawer. I have tried several of the colors so far and they are surprisingly well pigmented. With E.L.F you never quite know what you are going to get, sometimes they have great pigment and sometimes it’s not great. So far, this time around I scored a winner. For $5.00 the product is better than I expected. So if you are looking for a cheap pallet with lots of color choice I would recommend this one.

Blowfish Shoes - Nazz

I recently made some purchases from blowfish.com, I bought a total of three pairs, this was the first pair to come in. (ordered at a different time) I got this pair during an online special for free shipping and I enrolled in their online site and got an additional 10% off the order. These shoes are so super comfy, I've worn them just about every day since I received them. I usually don’t like closed toed shoes that much because my pinky toe always rubs against the side, but with these shoes they are lined with a soft fabric and there has been no rubbing. I foresee from here on out that I only order my flats from blowfish.com. The list price for these shoes is $39.00.  Click here to view on Blowfish

Donovan knows in his heart this cannot be true as the attraction between them is palpable. Must Read: Victoria Dahl - Real Men Will

Donovan Brewery Series:
Book 3:
Real Men Will: Eric Donovan and Beth Cantrell
Releases – October 25th 2011
Summary:
Stop, Warning! If you have not read Victoria Dahl’s novella “Just One Taste”  in “The Guy Next Door” (authors: Lori Foster, Susan Donovan and Victoria Dahl) please stop now and go back and read it. It’s the “prequel” to this story and without having read that story you may not get some of this story. But don’t worry I really enjoyed “Just One Taste” so it is no hardship to read and plenty steamy.
Eric had to take on the responsibility of raising his two teenage siblings and run the family brewery business at the age of 24. Always the serious responsible one just for one night he wants to let that all go and be free of his name and all the responsibilities that come with it. Beth is a fraud; she is the manager of the Wild Orchid, Boulders premier erotic shop that caters to women. She loves her job, but feels guilty that most of what she preaches and teaches she doesn’t follow herself.  Anytime she is with a man she can’t let go, until a chance meeting with “Jaime” at a business expo. For one night she is going to forget everything and let go and just enjoy the one night “Jaime” has to offer. Eric knows this is one night and knows as Eric he can’t be what he wants to be so when the beautiful Beth assumes he’s Jaime his younger, more carefree brother he doesn’t correct her. Knowing if she ever found out all hell will break loose, but really how will she ever find out? Months later a party brings Beth to the Donovan brewery, months of thinking about “Jaime”, and remembering the one night she was free. Now, not is all that it seems, people keep referring to the young cute bartender as Jaime, but she knows that’s not Jaime, or does she??
Review:
I absolutely ADORE this book! It is now one of my new favorites. I’m telling you, it’s the quite ones you have to worry about! Who knew Eric had it in him, I sure didn’t. As this is the third in the series you come to know Eric only as the uptight always says “Hell No” brother.  In this book, you get to see an entirely different side to him, one I like. A lot gets better explained in this book as to why Eric has been the way he is. Now on to Beth, who I adore! I was totally relating to Beth, I always said that if I had plenty of money and wanted to open a fun business it would be an erotica shop that catered to woman. So I was totally into that part of the book.  There was just so much about Beth that I related too; she is definitely one of my favorite book heroines.  Jaime and Eric finally kind of come to a truce, Tessa is still cute as a button and sassy as hell. I laughed a lot in this book; I cried in a couple of parts it and was plenty steamy. You get the full spectrum of emotions which is more then you can expect. I highly recommend this book and this series. In fact I’ll be checking out more from Victoria Dahl, I think she will become one of my favorite Contemporary Romance Novelists.

Movie Review: Colombiana

Movie Review: Colombiana
What it is about:
A young girl in Colombia witnesses her parent’s murder by a local mob boss. From that day on her life’s goal is to become a killer and to avenge her parents death. The movie will take you several of Cataleya’s hits leading up to her final revenge.
What I thought it:
My opinion might not be that of the masses but I loved this movie! I love movies where the female is the one doing all the ass kicking and Zoe Saldana definitely kicks some major ass in this movie. It is definitely a shoot ‘em up and blow ‘em up sort of movie with lots of fight scenes and plenty of bullets flying everywhere. Ok, are there some scenes that are completely outlandish and not even remotely believable, sure there are, however, that did not detract from my enjoyment of this movie. My recommendation is to just sit back and let the movie entertain you and not get caught up in those moments. That’s what I did and I highly enjoyed the flick, as did my movie going buddy CeCe from bronzegoddessbeauty.com . My co-worker also saw the film this weekend and got caught up in the outlandish moments and therefore thought the movie terrible, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Personally, this movie was one of my favorites of the summer.
Rating:
Go see it if you are in the mood for shoot ‘em up and blow ‘em up sort of movie

Movie Review: Conan the Barbarian

Conan the Barbarian:
Run Time: 112 mins
Rating: R
What it is about:
1000 years prior a kingdom rose from the dust to become nearly invincible, this kingdom called upon the dead as necromancers.  Only the Barbarian tribes stood against the necromancer kingdom and destroyed the mask which their source of power. The Barbarian’s destroyed the mask and scattered the pieces across the globe. It was foretold that one day a man would raise and put the mask back together, but one battle born man would rise to stop him. Conon was born in the midst of battle and even as a small boy was a fierce warrior. One day his village is attacked by a man holding a mask, they kill Conan’s father in front of him and take that last piece. For 20 years Conan lives for vengeance, and finally it is almost upon him.
What I thought:
This movie is so terrible it’s fantastic! The pure cheesiness of the movie just calls for laughter and I was not the only one laughing at the movie, so was the rest of the theater. I don’t think this movie was supposed to be a comedy but that’s how I treated it, although, I went into this movie expecting the worst. My sole expectation was to look at half naked man candy for an hour and a half and that expectation was met. LOL! There was lots of action, bloodshed and some decent effects. The acting as expected was terrible the plot line also terrible, but somehow it all worked. I can honestly say I was never bored from this movie and I laughed a lot. Although it probably wasn’t the kind of laughing that was intended.
Review:
I say go see it! But go with really low expectations and take it for what it is. A really cheesy action flick.

Movie Review: Friends with Benefits

Friends with Benefits:
Rated: R
Run Time: 109 mins
What it is about:
Dylan (Justin Timberlake) is a blog Art Director who is recruited by GQ, Jamie is the headhunter (Mila Kunis) a headhunter and is responsible for getting Dylan to accept the position. After a night on the town with Jamie Dylan decided to accept the position and uproot his life in LA to move to NYC; upon his arrival Jamie and Dylan’s friendship blossoms. After a string of bad dates and relationships the two decide that they can have no emotions attached sex and remain friends, no complications, but of course there are never “no complications” when sex is thrown in the mix.
What I thought about the movie:
This movie is hilarious! I laughed more in the first 15 minutes of this movie then I have the entire length of all the comedies I have seen in recent memories with the exception of “Bridesmaids”. Mila Kunis was perfect in this role; I cannot see anyone else playing this part. Justin Timberlake is also great in his role, but Kunis really stood out to me. Woody Harrelson plays Tommy, the very out and proud sports editor at GQ and in typical Harrelson fashion he was totally a scene stealer. You will see a lot of great cameos in this movie by heavy hitting comedians. You will laugh pretty much from beginning to the end, although, it does get somewhat heavier during the trip to LA, but even the heavier parts still have comedy. What I think makes this movie even funnier is I can totally see some of this stuff really happening in real life. Also, the movie does not take itself too seriously, even going so far as to blatantly poking fun of the romantic comedy genre which it is so clearly a part of. I think even men will enjoy this movie.
Rating:
Go see it! At least check it out matinee prices and if you don’t want to pay even that much, put it on your must rent list! I am on a movie buying ban but I may even buy this movie when it comes out on DVD, that’s how much I liked it.

Song on Repeat: Breathe Carolina - I'm The Type Of Person To Take It Personal

So I said i was going to go looking for some more Breathe Carolina and I was true to my word and what I found is my new love! A lot of Breathe Carolina's stuff is a little too techno/popish but I found this jem. It has the fast paced techno dance beat, with pop like singing and then the other dude comes in with metal screaming. They had me at first scream! This song satisfies both the club dancer in me as well as my head banging thrasher side. I'm in musical heaven!

Because sharing is caring!

Product Review: Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner

Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner:

Product Features:
  • Contains No Laurel/Laureth Sulfates
  • Suitable for All Hair Types
  • Cruelty Free - Never Tested on Animals
  • 16 Fl Oz (473 mL) Bottle
  • Contains Certified Organic Botanical Ingredients
Review:
Love, Love, Love this product!!! So I have been looking for a Tea Tree conditioner for a while now that did not smell so overpowering and didn’t cost an arm and a leg. I have previously tried the Paul Mitchell mask but I didn’t like the smell and it left little beads in my hair regardless of how long I rinsed. And I also tried the J. Beverley Hills Mask and I really like it but it costs something like $20 for a fairly small bottle. So when I saw this on Trader Joe’s shelf and saw it was only $4.00 (AZ price) I decided to give it a whirl and man I am glad I did. This product is light so it doesn’t weigh down your hair, the fragrance is a light peppermint smell so it’s not overpowering and man does my hair feel silky when I’m rinsing it out. I also find myself needing a lot less then I typically do with other conditioners so it has been lasting me longer. My hair has been so soft and shinny since I have started using this product. What is really nice about it is its cruelty free and all the ingredients are natural so you know you aren’t putting more chemicals in your hair. If you have a Trader Joe’s near you go ASAP and snap this product up! If you don’t have a Trader Joe’s I believe you can find it online. I love this product and highly recommend it. I also saw a review for this product for people with curly hair and it came highly recommended there as well! You won’t be sorry for this purchase.

Song on Repeat: Breathe Carolina - Blackout

My current newest Song on Repeat is Breathe Carolina - Blackout

This is another one of my free iTunes finds. I was immediately attracted to the upbeat electronic beats and melodious voices. This song is just pure fun! It's highly infectious and you'll soon have it on repeat as well I plan on looking into more tunes by Breathe Carolina ASAP!
